Happy Birthday to me!

Okay, I know it's not my birthday yet, but I already got my present and it is so exciting that I want to share it with you! I got a.....drumroll please.....Bosch!! My parents gave us a wheat grinder for Christmas, we bought 900 pounds of wheat for food storage, and this was the only thing holding me back from home made bread! All I have to say is, Boschs are amazing! I tried to make bread the next day (notice the word tried) and even though I didn't quite do it correctly, the Bosch made it so easy to do and I didn't mind it not turning out. (I didn't put enough yeast or flour in it). The Bosch came with a recipe book for all kinds of breads. Once I get Rhonda's whole wheat bread recipe down, I think I'm next going to try to conquer pita pockets. I'm going to try to make all of our bread from now on. Goodness knows, I've got enough wheat to do it for at least 2 years! I'm really excited about this, here's hoping my next batch of bread turns out better! This is the best birthday present ever. :D

I am so excited for you. I have been toying with making bread too but have always done it the old fashioned way (and haven't done THAT it about 9 years). Our young women did it using a bosch a few weeks ago and it motivated me to try to make it using my KitchenAid. One of these days I will get to it. How ambitious you are to buy 900 pounds of wheat. I don't even have a place to store that! I will have to start with like 20 pounds. :)
You should definitely move back to Oregon!!!!!

What a great birthday present!!! I love the type you hand pick yourself. Justin would be soo jealous of homemade bread. I made homemade bread the first 6 months we were married. You will have to keep posting about your progress, maybe it will motivate me.

Jean, how fun for you! I love Bosch's, they remind me of home. I am still mixing things by hand when they get to hard for my hand mixer. You will have to keep me updated on your bread making adventures.

Congratulations Jean on the new Bosch. I tried to make bread about a year ago with the bread maker, Kitchen Aid and by hand. All three ways didn't work. I guess it wasn't time yet. I tried like 6-7 times and realized that until I get a Bosch and be more interested I wasn't going to make bread until then.

I'm so sorry I forgot to call on your birthday. BUT I did think about calling several times if that helps :) It was a slightly crazy day with people stopping by our house and my kids sick (Sage waking up dry-heeving (sp?), me a cold, Brinley a cold, Tom not feeling well, Halle's stomach bothering her...) I'm so happy you love your Bosch! WOOHOOOOOO!!! :)

I have to tell you I love your playlist. Maybe because we have some of the same songs! But you always had great taste in stuff :)

Ohhh, I am SO jealous! It sounds like you are having a great time learning how to use it. Bosch products last FOREVER! My mom bought one over 20 years ago at a yard sale, and it's still running! I hope you had a great birthday!

I feel so out of the loop, I have never heard of a Bosch! Is it like a KitchenAid stand mixer?

Also, I hope your future bread turns out better! I think it is awesome that you are making your own, especially since it is so hard to find bread without things like high fructose corn syrup. I like knowing that my bread doesn't have weird chemicals in it. :) We should swap bread recipes!!
